Location: In the northeast corner of the Central Valley, along the Central Volcanic Mountain Range between Poás and Irazú volcanoes. Within the park’s borders are Barva and Cacho Negro volcanoes, as well as Zurquí Mountain, which extends from Alto de la Palma (Moravia) to La Selva Biological Station (Sarapiquí).
It has two main areas: Quebrada González, which borders the San José-Guápiles highway, and Barva Volcano, located 4 km from Sacramento in Barva de Heredia.
The landscape comprises high mountains with dense forest and countless rivers.
